Very nice hood...quiet I have this new range hood for only 4 weeks now and can't comment much on the filtering system. I bought it because it doesn't have the usual aluminum mesh grease filter which in my previous hood was hard to clean. In fact, my previous hood caught a grease fire when I was flambéing steaks with brandy on my gas cooktop. I also haven't been cooking much lately. I can say it's very quiet. It has 6 power settings. At Q (quiet) and 1 it is like a whisper, less audible than the gas flames of the cooktop (I have a Gaggenau 265 5-burner). At settings of 3 and higher it becomes audible but don't much interfere with conversation in the kitchen until 5 and 6. I use those higher settings when frying steaks or onions... It has an auto shut-off with a 5-minute timer; very useful to let it run at high when you are done and want to remove remaining fumes. All ventilation hoods make noise. I believe this is one of the quieter ones. The style is not industrial but it fits my kitchen. Guests usually compliment me on its look.
