Like it Light is plenty bright...(unfortunately on brightest you can see every fleck of dust/streak on new black ceramic cook top). At 27" from the cooktop it does not pull in as much steam/smoke as I wished. My old hood had greater depth. If I were doing a new install, I would figure a way to extend the hood a little further out over the cook top. We had to buy the optional recirculating kit since our hood wasn't vented. It was very easy to install. Since I did not order it at the time I ordered the hood, AJ Madison wanted $45 shipping on top of the $28 bucks for the kit. I got it shipped free from Amazon for $32. I haven't burnt anything to know how will the charcoal filter works, but they are kind of expensive so its unlikely I'll ever replace mine. The recirculating kit comes with three vent grills...white black and gray plastic. The gray plastic does NOT match the stainless steel very well...buck up and make a stainless steel grill that matches the hood.

Nice vent hood I like this vent hood better than some of the more expensive ones due to the hidden controls which make easy to keep clean. It's sleek and stylish. Only downside, which is very minor, is the fan seems to be a little anemic, but still very functional. Overall, a great vent hood.

Good Deal Great price for a nice looking piece of equipment. Does the job too. Only complaint would be that the two different settings are pretty much the same.
