I made a smart purchase
I purchased this dryer, along with the corresponding washer, after a good bit of research. I made the right choice. An important selling point for me was that it has such a good variety of settings for different load types. I also like that the door opens either top-down, for easy loading, and side-to-side so you can put your laundry basket just under the door and scoop your dried laundry into it. (A side note: this door is also reversible. As is, it opens left-to-right. My laundry room set up required right-to-left opening. I didn't realize this until after the installers left, so i had to schedule an appointment for someone to come back out to do the job. This is no reflection on the quality of the dryer, however. I only mention it as a reminder to a purchaser.)

Text feature is awesome; sensor dry = damp
In general, I love this dryer. The fact that it texts us when done is a feature I didn't know I needed, but I love it! The one BIG downside with this unit is that even following all the directions (don't mix types/weight of material) and turning on "extra dry", it still almost always leaves something in the load pretty damp. Even bedding run on the "Bedding" setting with extra dry came out damp. The instructions say to just run it a little longer with timed setting, but that's a hassle.

Efficient & many functions! Large capacity f
I have used the same dryer for two decades. Same with the washer. My dryer went out first though and it was time. I wanted a new one. But my washer still works quite well and I could only really afford the dryer now anyway.., so I just bought the dryer for now. But now having and using it for a bit, I intend to get the washer too, soon.
I LOVE LG ThinQ products. I have ThinQ all over and love the app for controlling things from my phone. It’s just fun!
Now, as for the nitty gritty of this dryer. I’ve added pictures of the control panel and it’s door opening differences (top & side opening). This is because I couldn’t readily find a close up pic of the control panel when I was trying to figure out what to buy. The knob in the center is not a clicky turn knob like the old style dryers. It’s a free flowing weighted knob allowing for selecting the type of load. Then, that will load your basic functions on the right. Like average time and heat level for your kind of load. Then you make changes or feature additions, by choosing the buttons on the right, for additions or changes. Like adding or removing the end of cycle chime, or any of the multitude of other awesome functions. I find I use antibacterial and wrinkle guard functions the most.
This dryer is sturdy, highly functional and efficient. I just love the little song it plays when the cycle finishes. It’s quite large and fast. I love the sensor dry and antibacterial functions especially for the kids and grandkids as they’re not as conscious of messy situations and always seem to gravitate towards them. In fact, one is a carrier of Staph. So the added antibacterial feature is a huge plus. I especially recommend this dryer for any family with a newborn baby, young toddlers or elderly reside, where incontinence may be an issue, The antibacterial function will certainly aid in your peace of mind. I’m aware of antibacterial products that can be purchased and added to the rinse cycle of the wash cycle. However, they can be harsh on certain allergic or sensitive people. This function eliminates that problem.
The wrinkle guard feature is just genius! I love NOT having wrinkles when I’m sidetracked and can’t get the load out, hung up & folded right away. I didn’t get the steam function as we don’t have many clothes that really wrinkle, too much, requiring pressing or ironing. Plus, the wrinkle guard works to eliminate that nuisance anyway. Plus, I have a steamer and iron, should something need wrinkles removed.
The piece de resistance has to be the door that opens, both, from the top, and/or either side (with an adjustment). It opens two ways. From the top, halfway, for loading and/or removing clothes. Also, from a side, fully open. There is an adjustment you can do to change which side the door opens from. It will arrive opening from left to right. But there are full instructions with the unit, on paper, and a video available, to show you, exactly step by step, how to reverse the side from which it opens. The door opening, antibacterial and wrinkle guard functions made this dryer a “must have” for me. I truly just love this dryer. Even the lint trap is ultra easy to get to, and very easy to quickly clean with each load, in order to assure optimal and consistent efficiency.
I’m still learning all of the functions and how to most efficiently use & program my personal load functions with the unit. It didn’t come with the standard owner instruction manual on how to program loads, set controls or even how to use it. So I need to download a manual from somewhere online to find out how to program everything. But I guess that’s just how appliances are sold now. No worry though because I’m always online for something.
I have to say, Best Buy is wonderful with delivery, installation and haul away. Everything was handled and the unit was promptly installed. I especially liked how Best Buy’s website told me exactly what installation components I’d need to buy to assure an easy and speedy installation. The delivery and installation team was efficient, clean and respectful.
Coincidentally, I gave excellent rating on all counts except for value. First because I’ve had to do too much hunting for operating instructions. Also because I felt it was a bit pricy. But that’s not exclusively LG’s or Best Buy’s fault. I’m beginning to think everything I price has overinflated pricing. My final say is, “Yes. I’m very happy with this dryer and I highly recommend this one.”
