nice but very loud Just bought the black stainless steel model. Very nice finish with plenty of room. We went from a side by side, 26 cu ft to 28 cu ft. Our old fridge was silent as a mouse, other than the ice but that was to be expected. This fridge is very loud. Geek Squad out to the house 6 days later to look at it. Nothing to be fixed. Was told all newer fridges sound this way because of variable speed compressors, and that the more expensive models with 2 compressors are even louder. Why in the world would anyone make a fridge that makes this kind of noise? This isn't an improvement over older models. Our we going back in time and not forward. You can't tell me that customers would be happy to own a fridge that sounds like something from the 50's-60's era.

A Great Refrigerator! So far this has been a great fridge and we are glad we bought it. Storage capacity is outstanding in this thing. The french door system is great for accessing all or specific sides of the fridge. A huge bonus is the two adjustable shelves on each side of the fridge! The individually controlled storage drawers are perfect for what we need with a great capacity which helps keep the inside well organized. Lighting is consistent and bright enough to see every corner inside. The water filter is extremely easy to access and change out when needed. The ice dispenser takes while to fill up initially, but once it does, it has worked perfect so far. The controls for the ice and water dispensers, temperature settings, Lighting settings, alarm settings, and energy settings are extremely easy to use and very conveniently laid out. It is a very clean look that helps keep the entire fridge looking good. All the handles are very sturdy, the doors open and close very well (actually easier when loaded versus an empty store display). We are overall very happy with this purchase. We had Best Buy install all our appliances and everything went very smoothly and professionally.

Many great features and beautiful styling I previously owned a Samsung which was almost 8 years old and although looked new was not repairable. I was told 7 years is what to expect out of a fridge so I walked into Best Buy DETERMINED not to buy another Samsung as parts were hard to get. I didn’t want to spend too much if it was only going to last 7 years. Samsung did the nicest, best features, value for money etc and with B.B. haul-away option I purchase another Samsung. The left door feels like it doesn’t close properly although it does seem to cool ok. When I walked into the store I found the Shop floor model had the same “feature”. Doesn’t feel as though it sticks closed. I spoke to Best Buy about it and they didn’t want to know (I’ve never found that before). So I will have to contact Samsung. So if you buy this fridge check this “feature” before the installer leaves your property.

love this fridge Our Samsung RF28HFEDBSR/AA is now a year old. We have loved this fridge... never had a problem with the ice maker and/or dispenser as some have reported. The whole ice container is easy to remove and replace... in case you need a lot to fill pitchers etc at once. It is not silent when the ice is being made and dropped into the storage bin. We got the full on warranty when we purchased it just in case. It fits perfectly into what was formerly the space for our built-in older fridge, because it is only 70" high... and yet the interior at 28.1 cu ft is so much roomier than that fridge was. I'm very pleased with all the space in the freezer as well. Love having the refrigerator space full on the top, rather than the side-by-side. The interior lighting is also excellent, and so important! It is also easy to clean and easy to arrange tuck-away shelves to make space for either tall items or more "floor" space for shorter items. Gallon milk bottles can be stored in any number of places, including the door. Magnetic on the sides only, the SS front and sides are easy to clean and finger print resistant.

Looks good on paper, but generally disappointing On paper this fridge looks good and that's why we bought it. It had strong reviews on both retailer sites and CR. Spec-wise it had the highest capacity i found of fridges in this size range. After starting to use it we found some major problems; one is based on the physical layout but at least partially based on bizarre design decisions by the manufacturer; a couple more are based on some kind of mechanical and/or electrical problem with the ice maker. the worst problem is that once in a while, randomly, the ice maker either shuts itself off or stops working. One time this happened the solution was as simple as turning it back on using the front control panel. A couple other times I had to press the reset button which is difficult to find inside the ice maker. One other time, after trying everything, it just randomly started working again after a few days. Not super confidence inspiring. Another design issue with the ice maker is that when you switch from water to ice, the dispenser always spews a little water (maybe an ounce) when you start it up to get ice. This is super annoying if like me you are dispensing the ice into your hand (the water bottle i want to put it in won't fit into the dispenser well...see below). So basically every time i get ice, i get a little cold water on my hand, and it's enough to make enough of a mess in the little tray in the dispenser area that i have to clean it up. The rest of the issues are just based on the manufacturer's physical design choices. it's tough to design a french door fridge with a door-mounted ice and water dispenser, and Samsung apparently didn't want to spend a lot of time on engineering an elegant solution. the dispenser cut-out area is bizarrely wide but not tall enough for a 1-liter sodastream bottle (see my comment about the ice-water leak above). Because of the width, a lot of interior door shelf space is wasted or non-optimal (there's a really skinny section of the shelf on the dispenser side that is barely usable). bottom line is they could have made both the dispenser and the door shelves more usable if they had just applied some more thought to the design. Another problem is the capacity of the ice maker. This is harder to address given the space constraints of the design and not something that really bothers me, but if you are used to a normal ice maker, i'm guessing this one produces about half the ice. Another problem is the water from the dispenser is never really cold, and there's only about a liter of semi-cold water in the system until it starts running at nearly room temperature. Finally, there's no butter compartment and no convenient place to put a butter dish. Sounds silly but we didn't realize how much we'd miss a dedicated in-door area for butter till we got this fridge.
