Perfect for small kitchen space and my needs. I bought the cooktop in September to replace one that was 25+ years old and had cracked. This was considered a major purchase and several platforms were used to review products and ratings before deciding on this model. Size, price, and simplicity were factors as I was not remodeling and just needed a comparable, affordable replacement. I did go with raised knobs as I somehow felt they may be more reliable in the long run that the "touch" options. Super easy to install. It has been easy to clean and using the provided cooktop cleaner on occasion helps keep it looking good. The burners heat up quickly and cook evenly. The dual burner option is used more than I thought and I like it. The only issue for me was that this was a bit narrower for a 30" size - so check actual measurements carefully. Because I was fitting into an existing countertop hole, I had to be creative to fill about a 1/4 inch gap to accommodate the actual width (side to side). GE did not offer any kind of kit to meet my needs. The appliance dealer pointed me to a company that makes aluminum trim, but I needed something stronger as the aluminum trim is not intended to be used for any kind of support. In the end, I was able to remove the sturdy metal support frame from the old cooktop, sand and refinish it, and use it to fill the gap and add extra support and trim for the new cooktop. It looks good, too.

Love it so far! Replaces my previous cooktop and would've been easy to install if it came with a plug. It had the electrical cord but no plug so my husband had to use the plug from our old cooktop. Fortunately, he's an engineer with electrical experience, otherwise we would've had to hire someone to do this. We needed a cooktop that fit our current granite cut out and GE was the only option. I love that is has dual size burners and melt / keep warm options.

SUCH an improvement After watching tech savvy friends and relatives outsmarted by their new cooktops, we opted for this simple model with actual knobs. The cooktop we replaced dated from the Jurassic. It was only 25 inches wide and the burners were so unreliable that we pulled out the coil on the worst one and used the resulting hole as a trivet. This new cooktop seems giant in comparison. No more jockeying pans for position. The controls are logical and the burners are fast. It does help to look at the manual because it explains that a burner will power down if it senses a pan getting too hot. Mercifully, only two of our pans were not flat enough to work well. (This was a main reason we did not opt for induction). I LOVE the keep warm burner - no more tomato sauce simmer splatters. The large diameter burner makes stir frys easier. The unit came with a wee bottle of cleaner; it works like a charm. Note: Smoothtops heat up directly so everything in a burner ring burns (turns brown or black) when the burner is on. Even a swipe with a sponge will leave enough residue to burn. We had to upgrade the circuit breaker and wiring from 30 to 40 amps, an extra expense, but the unit it replaced was so underpowered that no matter what we bought we would have had to upgrade the power to the cooktop. This was the only cooktop on the US market that would fit in our 50 year old cabinets that we opted not to replace when we remodeled.

Beautiful Cooktop Just bought and it was an easy install as I was replacing a similar older model. Boiled a pot of water in just over two minutes. We chose this model as we preferred stainless knobs to a smooth top model. Great looking and performs very well.
